Term used for rhotic, or "r" pronouncing American Southern dialects.  Emigrated primarily from Ireland and Scotland.  Primarily working class.  Doesn't always just refer to people who still live in the mountains. 



Rhotic or "r" -pronouncing "Mountain Southern" or "Redneck" also refers to areas of Texas and other regions with no topographical distinctions.  Sorry, I didn't make up the terms.
